NAGPUR: A C-60 commando was injured during a gun-fight at Korparshi forest near Maharashtra-Chhattisgarh border in the wee hours of Friday.
Kanker police have been pressed into action to assist Maharashtra police.
The C-60 jawans from Maharashtra are still trapped as firing continues between the security forces and Maoists in south Gadchiroli.
Sources said C-60 jawans were ambushed by the Maoists in the forested stretch on the state borders where combing operations were under way.
The C-60 commandos from Aheri’s Pranhita headquarters had undertaken the operations after heavy Maoist presence was detected along the state borders.
The Maoists visited some hamlets adjoining the state borders in last couple of days for a meeting and sought logistics support from the locals, sources said.
Police are trying to airlift the injured jawan to Nagpur for medical assistance.
