NAGPUR: The partial restrictions in Nagpur district for two days enforced by the district administration and Nagpur Municipal Corporation till Sunday night to contain the spread of Covid-19 evoked mixed response on Saturday.
Private vehicles including two-wheelers were seen in large numbers on the city roads as well as national and state highways from Saturday morning.
More police personnel were seen on the streets to ensure people don’t venture outside without any reason. They were seen struggling to convince people who were freely coming out into the streets for minor reasons.
Public transport including Aapli Bus and autorikshaws remained on the road. Provision stores, vegetable and fruits vendors and pharmaceutical stores, petrol stations were opened. Major vegetable markets like Cotton Market, Gokulpeth market were abuzz with activity.
Even though the civic and district administrations have issued clear guidelines on what will remain open and what not, still many private offices were seen functioning in the first half of Saturday. It was also spotted that few automobile workshops and even a wine shop at a place in the city were open.
Mayor Dayashankar Tiwari, district guardian minister Nitin Raut and municipal commissioner Radhakrishnan B had appealed to people to stay home and not move out without any reason.
